Drug Discovery Capabilities at GRI
Drug Discovery Capabilities at GRI

Ruben Papoian obtained his Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology from the University of California, San Francisco. His early research focused on autoimmune diseases, T-cell activation and immunological tolerance. Over the past 20 years he has worked in the pharmaceutical industry primarily, in Switzerland, with Sandoz AG, Serono SA and Novartis AG. His main areas of research were related to target identification and drug discovery in a number of therapeutic areas. Ruben has served a Laboratory Head, Dept. Head, Project Leader, Project Coordinator and Program Director. Ruben moved from Novartis, Basel, to the Genome Research Institute, University of Cincinnati in July 2005 as Research Professor and Director, Drug Discovery. His major goal is to build a first class drug discovery operation with assay development, HTS screening, hit identification, lead optimization culminating in drug candidate selection.
